LA Shorts International Film Festival (July 16-28)
Recognized as one of the most prestigious short film festivals globally, the LA Shorts International Film Festival returns for its 29th edition from July 17 to 28, 2025, reaffirming its role as a significant platform for short-form cinema and a key meeting point for the international audiovisual community.
Accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar®), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (Canadian Screen Awards), and the Spanish Academy (Goya Awards), LA Shorts stands as a qualifying festival for the industry’s highest honors. To date, 69 filmmakers who premiered their work at LA Shorts have received Academy Award® nominations, with 18 earning the Oscar®.
As the longest-running short film festival in Los Angeles, the event annually presents over 350 short films, encompassing a broad range of genres and production scales. Screenings will take place at Regal Cinemas at LA LIVE and Laemmle NoHo Theatres in Los Angeles, attracting an estimated 10,000 attendees, including studio executives, producers, talent agents, and independent creators.
Notable participants in past editions include Tim Burton, Sofia Coppola, Jason Reitman, Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, and Demi Moore, among others. The 2025 program will include an opening night red carpet premiere, industry panels, networking events, and a closing night awards ceremony, all set against the dynamic backdrop of downtown Los Angeles.
The presence of internationally recognized filmmakers alongside emerging voices underscores the festival’s role in promoting artistic excellence and innovation in cinema.
