MIA Market Rome 2026 | October 19-23, 2026

MIA 2026: The Market Expands into the Heart of the Eternal City

For its 12th edition, running October 19–23, MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo expands into the heart of the Eternal City, turning the area between Piazza Barberini and Via Veneto into an urban district for the international audiovisual industry. Producers, distributors, buyers, commissioners and financiers will move between historic buildings and hotels, each with its own focus, in a setting that remains one of the market’s most distinctive assets.

The first international guests already point to the breadth of this year’s conversation. Marco Bassetti, CEO of Banijay Entertainment; Edward Berger, director and producer of Conclave and the Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front; Anna Marsh, Deputy CEO of CANAL+, CEO of STUDIOCANAL and Chief Content Officer of CANAL+; and Jane Tranter, CEO and Co-Founder of Bad Wolf, will take part in the fireside chats. Raj Singh, Co-Founder and CEO of Media Capital Technologies, joins the new European Investment Hub, bringing the perspective of international media investment and financing.

Palazzo Barberini remains MIA’s institutional headquarters and will host the main conferences. Around it, a network of specialized hubs gives each sector its own address. The Westin Excelsior on Via Veneto becomes the new Film & Drama Hub, while the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace hosts the Documentary Hub. In Piazza Barberini, the Sina Bernini Bristol serves as the reference point for animation, with Animation Next and the new Animation Series Gap Financing Market, first unveiled at Cannes in May. Designed for series that already have broadcaster or commissioner backing and partial financing in place, it connects producer-broadcaster teams with international co-producers, co-financiers and co-commissioners to close the remaining gap and move projects into production.

The expanded format reflects MIA’s continuing evolution into a business platform where development, production, financing, distribution and international circulation increasingly intersect. Its new geography also reinforces what has long set it apart: few international audiovisual gatherings are so closely woven into the fabric of their host city.

MIA is promoted by ANICA – Italian Association of Film, Audiovisual and Digital Industries and APA – Italian Audiovisual Producers Association, under the direction of Gaia Tridente. The 2026 edition is organized with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE – Italian Trade Agency, with contributions from Creative Europe MEDIA and the Italian Ministry of Culture, and support from the Rome Lazio Film Commission Foundation and the Lazio Region. It is held in collaboration with Roma Capitale’s Department for Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion and under the patronage of Eurimages.
