Italian Cinema Industry Days | December 1–4, 2026 | Sorrento, Italy
The 49th edition of the Giornate Professionali di Cinema, Italy’s annual gathering for theatrical exhibition and film distribution, will take place December 1–4, 2026, at the Hilton Sorrento Palace. Organized by ANEC, the National Association of Cinema Exhibitors, in collaboration with ANICA, the association representing Italy’s film and audiovisual industries, the event brings together exhibitors, distributors, producers and other industry professionals to examine the market and preview upcoming releases.
Under the theme “Raise the Bar,” the 2026 program will consider the challenges facing movie theaters and the broader cinema value chain. Distributor conventions form the core of the four-day agenda, with companies presenting forthcoming theatrical slates through trailers, footage and film presentations. Scheduled participants include Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Company Italia, Warner Bros. Pictures, 01 Distribution, Lucky Red, MUBI and Amazon MGM Studios, among others.
Alongside the presentations, industry panels and discussions will address developments affecting exhibition, distribution and the business of bringing films to audiences. A dedicated Italy–United Kingdom focus will compare the two theatrical markets and provide a forum for examining their industry relationships. The program also includes a trade show where suppliers and technology companies can present products and services for cinemas and related businesses.
The event offers a snapshot of how the Italian theatrical sector is positioning itself amid changing audience habits, evolving release strategies and competition for attention across entertainment platforms. For international industry observers, its distributor presentations and market conversations provide a view of the films and commercial priorities expected to shape Italy’s coming cinema season. The participation of both Italian companies and international distributors also highlights the interconnected nature of the country’s theatrical marketplace. The discussions will be especially relevant as exhibitors assess how programming choices, audience development and investment in the cinema experience can support theatrical attendance in the years ahead.
On December 3, the Biglietti d’Oro ANEC ceremony will recognize the films that achieved the strongest admissions results in Italy, while the Chiavi d’Oro honors will acknowledge creative figures associated with successful Italian productions. Activities for local audiences and schools, including screenings and educational initiatives, will extend the event beyond its professional program.
