Hit Week 2023
Hit Week is the most important music festival dedicated to diffusing Italian music throughout the world and has been active since 2009. In this 16th edition organized by the Italian Trade Agency Los Angeles Office in collaboration with Fimi (Italian Music Industry Federation) and the Rhythm Foundation, the events took place in Miami and Los Angeles and were headlined by indie pop duo Coma Cose and alt-folk poet Gio Evan. One of the initiative’s main missions has always been to create opportunities for non-established artists to spread their catalogs abroad and to affirm their careers, and in this year’s edition a national contest called Hit Week Talent was held to decide two artists that opened for Coma Cose and Gio Evan: Kyotolp (Roberta Russo, singer-songwriter, drummer, producer) being chosen for the Miami concerts and Liverpool Alligator Park (garage-punk duo Francesco and Emanuele) being chosen for the Los Angeles concerts. Hit Week began in Miami on October 13th, 2023 with a seminar at Florida International University, where Coma Cose and over 100 students were greeted by the Italian Trade Agency and the Consulate General of Italy in Miami. This was followed by a networking event reserved for 40 music industry professionals at the Eagle Room. On October 14th was the live concert by Coma Cose, Gio Evan, and Kyotolp at the famous Miami Beach Bandshell with an in-person audience of 600 and many more all over the world due to its livestream broadcast. Hit Week then spread Italian music to Los Angeles on October 17th, 2023, with a concert by Coma Cose and Liverpool Alligator Park at West Hollywood’s legendary bar Whisky @ Go Go. Over 250 live spectators were greeted by Raffaella Valentini, the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, and Alessandra Rainaldi, Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency Los Angeles Office.
