The Fast Growth of the Gaming Market
An analysis by Variety Intelligence Platform.
Variety Intelligence Platform, an in-depth analysis signed by Andrew Wallenstein, President, and Chief Media Analyst at VIP+, reports on the evolution of the gaming market.
A statistical study by Ampere Analysis says that American consumers spend more time watching videos than playing video games (about five times more). Still, the revenues derived from gaming exceed both broadcast TV and streaming services/subscription VOD.
The appeal of new revenues made streaming services explore the field. Netflix, for example, has spent most of 2022 trying to expand into the sector.
According to the most recent forecast, the global video gaming market will be worth nearly 200 million dollars by the end of 2022. Mobile gaming – the sector that has grown the fastest in the last decade – will convey about 100 million of that amount. A chart on the report shows that more than half of the gamers play from mobile. Console and pc players occupy the other half of the cake chart.
The report also analyzes the major players in the market (NetEase, Nintendo, and Sea Limited are the most significant) and the regions: Asia-Pacific detains 55% of the demand, followed by America, the Middle East, and Europe.
