“You, me & Tuscany”: Tuscany Reinforces Italy as a Strategic Destination for International Productions
Set for release in U.S. theaters on April 10, 2026, You, Me & Tuscany brings Italy to the heart of a romantic comedy conceived from the outset for an international audience. Directed by Kat Coiro (Marry Me) and distributed by Universal Pictures, the film follows Anna, a passionate chef who finds herself confronting love — and her own personal journey — amid the rolling hills of Tuscany. The role is played by Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, The Color Purple), alongside Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton).
The film was shot last summer between July and August entirely on location in Tuscany — across Pienza, Monticchiello and Montalcino — where the region’s hills, historic villages and villas become the visual backbone of the story. According to the cast, the choice of real locations had a direct influence on both the film and their performances. Bailey revealed that she took cooking lessons during production, finding in the Tuscan setting the ideal environment to explore the theme of creative inspiration: the drive that fuels a chef in the kitchen, she noted, is not so different from what pushes a singer in a recording studio. Page described the project as an immersive experience. “The fields are wide, the sunsets are stunning,” he said, adding that the goal of the production was to bring joy to the screen — and that Italy proved to be the perfect setting to do so.
The cast reflects the project’s international profile. Alongside Bailey and Page appear Isabella Ferrari (The Great Beauty), Marco Calvani, Paolo Sassanelli and Tommaso Cassissa, together with Lorenzo De Moor, Aziza Scott, Greek-Canadian actress Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and an ensemble of local actors. This mix of talent required close collaboration with the Tuscany Film Commission and local crews, who supported the production in areas ranging from logistics and permits to on-the-ground production services.
The production also implemented sustainability practices aligned with Universal Pictures’ GreenerLight program. Producer Will Packer highlighted the team’s attention to several operational aspects of the shoot — from sustainable catering and the use of recyclable materials to sourcing local products — with the goal of minimizing environmental impact and operating responsibly within the territory hosting the production.
