Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, June 18–28, 2026, Cagliari

The Filming Italy Sardegna Festival, conceived and directed by Tiziana Rocca, returns this summer for its ninth edition, to be held from June 18 to 28 in Cagliari and at the Forte Village resort.

Now in its ninth year, the festival has established itself as a singular event in the international audiovisual calendar, distinguished by its dual focus on both cinema and television. It brings together theatrical distributors, production companies, television networks, and global VOD platforms, creating a shared space for dialogue among industry professionals, artists, and the public. The festival is organized in collaboration with APA – Associazione Produttori Audiovisivi, under the patronage of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Municipality of Cagliari, and with the support of Forte Village.

Legendary American actor Harvey Keitel will serve as Honorary President of this edition. Italian actress and filmmaker Micaela Ramazzotti returns to the festival as its Ambassador, while singer and actress Clara — one of the most prominent figures of a new generation of Italian talent — will serve as the festival’s godmother. Among the first confirmed international guests are actress Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters, Arrow) and Sveva Alviti, who will present her new film Other Side of Fame. James Franco will also be in attendance, both as a guest and as a member of the short film jury.

The Filming Italy Sardegna – In Corto short film competition, developed in partnership with the University of Cagliari, continues to offer emerging filmmakers a platform with concrete reach: winning shorts will be broadcast on Rai Cinema Channel and the MyMovies platform, and presented to American audiences at the Filming Italy – Los Angeles event. This year’s jury will be chaired by French actress and César Award winner Elsa Zylberstein, and will include James Franco, Samuel Arnold, Rosa Diletta Rossi, and Ilenia Pastorelli. Special awards will be presented in partnership with Enel (environmental themes) and Festina (the theme of time), while a new prize — the “Premio Miglior Corto Universitario” — has been established jointly with Rai Cinema as part of the Studenti in Corto initiative, offering national exposure to the best short films produced by Italian film school and university students.

On Saturday, June 27, the festival will host an institutional panel organized with APA, titled “Cinema e Audiovisivo – L’Italia racconta sé stessa” (Cinema and Audiovisual – Italy Tells Its Own Story), bringing together leading figures from Italian film production, distribution, and public broadcasting.

The program will feature more than 50 titles, including international and Italian features, documentaries, restored works, television series, and short films — many presented as world or national premieres.
