This June, the Taormina Film Festival returns for its 72nd edition — and it’s shaping up to be one of the most compelling editions yet. Scheduled from June 10 to 14, 2026, the festival takes over the Ancient Theater perched above the Mediterranean, one of the most visually stunning venues in world cinema. Founded in 1955, Taormina is the second oldest film festival in Italy and remains a cornerstone of the European film circuit, where prestige meets an unmistakably cinematic sense of place.
Artistic Director Tiziana Rocca, confirmed in her role through 2028, has shaped an ambitious program structured around four competitive and showcase sections: the International Feature Film Competition, Out of Competition screenings, Special Events at the Teatro Antico, and a newly introduced Short Film Competition dedicated to works shot on Sicilian soil — a tribute to the island’s extraordinary landscape and cultural identity.

Equally significant is the announcement of Anna Valle as the festival’s madrina — a choice that carries deep symbolic resonance.
