Apple TV+ Joins Prime Video: Expanding Streaming Options for $9.99 Per Month

Amazon and Apple are expanding their partnership by making Apple TV+ available on Amazon’s Prime Video in the U.S. as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month. The move, announced by Amazon, allows Prime subscribers to access Apple TV+ content directly through the Prime Video app, bringing Apple’s streaming service to a larger audience.

This partnership is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to offer more entertainment options under one platform, where users can manage multiple streaming services with a single bill. Apple TV+ joins over 100 subscription services on Prime Video, including Max (Warner Bros. Discovery), Paramount+, Crunchyroll, and MGM+.

Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, emphasized how the deal strengthens Prime Video’s position as a leading entertainment platform. “As we continue to expand our offering and make it easy for customers to personalize their streaming experience directly in one app, we are proud to welcome Apple TV+ and its popular and critically acclaimed shows, films, and events to Prime Video,” said Hopkins.

Apple and Amazon already collaborate on hardware, with Fire TV devices offering an Apple TV+ app and Apple TV 4K boxes supporting Prime Video. However, this new deal deepens their relationship by integrating Apple TV+ into Amazon’s streaming ecosystem. Although Amazon takes a percentage of subscription revenue for services purchased through Prime Video, the terms of this revenue-sharing agreement have not been disclosed.

At the Bloomberg Screentime conference, Hopkins explained how the deal benefits Apple by potentially reaching “hundreds of millions of subscribers around the world.” Apple TV+ offers a lineup of original shows like Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show, as well as sports content, including Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball games. Apple’s Senior Vice President of services, Eddy Cue, expressed excitement about expanding Apple TV+’s reach through Prime Video.

Prime Video, which is included as part of Amazon’s Prime membership ($139 per year or $14.99 per month), boasts a wide range of original programming, such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Reacher, and The Boys. It also features live sports, including NFL’s Thursday Night Football and WNBA games. Recently, Prime Video introduced ads into its programming, offering customers the option to pay an extra $2.99 per month for an ad-free experience.
