Academy Museum’s Gala

Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Michael B. Jordan, and Sofia Coppola will be the honorees at The Third Academy Museum Gala on Oct. 14th, 2023. The striking guilds, SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild, have approved this year’s event despite ongoing work stoppages, where they have restricted their members’ promotion activities.
Streep, Winfrey, Jordan, and Coppola will each be given awards celebrating their careers at the fundraising gala, which is being co-chaired by Ava DuVernay, Ryan Murphy, Halle Berry, and museum trustee Eric Esrailian.
The evening will help fund museum exhibitions, education initiatives, and public programming. Last year’s event, which awarded Julia Roberts, Tilda Swinton, Steve McQueen, and Miky Lee, raised 10 million dollars for the Renzo Piano-designed museum, inaugurated in September 2021.
