Prime Video Series “Costiera” in Amalfi Coast
The series is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Luca Bernabei for Lux Vide (Fremantle company), written by Elena Bucaccio (Devils) and Francesco Arlanch (Medici).
Costiera will mark a highly innovative distribution deal structure where Fremantle will handle global sales on the series in all territories outside of Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal where Amazon is holding on to full exclusive rights: “a revolutionary deal for Italian productions,” said James Farrell, VP Local Originals, Amazon Studios. Nicole Morganti (Amazon Studios head of originals in Italy), and Lux Vide CEO Luca Bernabei illustrate the innovative aspects of the Costiera business model.
“While it’s crucial for us to retain intellectual property, we also aim to provide more opportunities to talents, production companies, and industry professionals,” she explained. Morganti further revealed that this new business model is not limited to Italy but extends to Amazon’s operations worldwide. “I think it’s a watershed moment,” said Bernabei, commenting on how the financing and sales aspects of Costiera are structured.
Jens Richter, CEO of commercial and international at Fremantle, called Costiera “An intoxicating thriller set in the sun-drenched Amalfi Coast,” and “The ultimate blue-sky drama that ticks all the boxes.”
After Sicily in The White Lotus, it’s now the turn for Amalfi Coast, one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world with its hill-climbing villages, crystal clear waters, and sensual blend of both natural and cultural wonders.
