Amazon Orders Comic Based Shows

Comic movies and tv-series have such a steady and affectionate audience that every company wants its fair share of them.

Amazon, for example, will produce multiple live-action shows based on the Marvel characters controlled by Sony. The first one will be ‘Silk: Spider Society,’ from ‘Walking Dead’ author Angela Kang, Variety wrote.

The show follows Cindy Moon, described as “a Korean-American woman bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker, as she escapes imprisonment and searches for her missing family on her way to becoming the superhero known as Silk.”

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the Amazon Studios family for this next chapter of my career,” Angela Kang said to Variety. “I look forward to working with the executive team on diverse, character-forward, watercooler shows for a global audience. I am excited to dive into my first challenge—bringing Korean-American superhero Silk to life on screen.”

‘Silk: Spider Society’ will debut in the US on MGM+, followed by a global launch on Prime Video.

It is unknown which other Marvel-based shows Amazon intends to produce and stream. Sony currently controls over 900 such characters associated with the Spider-Man franchise.
