Rome Hosts International Emmy® Semi-Final Judging for the First Time
On July 4, Rome welcomed, for the first time, a Semi-Final Round of Judging for the International Emmy® Awards, one of the most prestigious international events celebrating excellence in television produced outside the United States.
The event was promoted by Fondazione Roma Lazio Film Commission in collaboration with the Publishing, Media & Audiovisual Section of Unindustria, and held at Palazzo De Carolis, thanks to the support of UniCredit, a key partner of the initiative.
The judging session—dedicated to the “Not Scripted” category—was attended by an international jury of leading industry professionals, including representatives from Amazon Studios, RAI Fiction, Mediaset, Paramount, Publispei, Stand By Me, All3Media Belgium, and Conecta Film. Present on behalf of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences were Tracy Oliver (Membership Director) and Camille Bidermann Roizen (Executive Director).
This landmark occasion follows a growing collaboration initiated in New York with participation at the 2024 International Emmy® World Television Festival and Gala, and formalized in January 2025 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Roma Lazio Film Commission and Unindustria. The agreement aims to strengthen Rome and Lazio’s global competitiveness as a production hub and foster stronger ties between local audiovisual enterprises and key institutional stakeholders.
According to Lorenza Lei, CEO of the Roma Lazio Film Commission, “Hosting this judging session is a significant opportunity to promote television and media projects and bring regional and national players into a prestigious global arena. With Lazio leading Italy in terms of companies active in the sector, the audiovisual industry is a true driver of growth.”
Lidia Cudemo, President of Unindustria’s Audiovisual Section, highlighted that this milestone marks “a new chapter for the region’s creative economy, giving greater international visibility to local talent and productions.”
The event concluded with a networking cocktail gathering producers, creatives, investors, cultural leaders, and institutional representatives, all united by a common goal: making Lazio a leading force in the global audiovisual industry.
UniCredit’s Roberto Fiorini added: “We are proud to support Italy’s creative industries. Audiovisual content is a powerful ambassador of Italian excellence worldwide, and we’re committed to helping companies grow and innovate beyond national borders.”
