The 20th annual Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Festival returns to Hollywood on the eve of the 97th Academy Awards, celebrating Italian excellence in cinema, fashion, and the arts. The festival will take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood and online for U.S. audiences via Eventive.

Opening Night – February 23

The festival opens with a tribute to Roberto Rossellini, featuring a screening of “Stromboli”, followed by an homage to Isabella Rossellini with “Death Becomes Her”. Additionally, the evening will host two exclusive U.S. premieres:

  • “Darkness” (25’), directed by Giuliano Oppes, with a special introduction by Franco Nero
  • “The American Backyard” (107’), directed by Pupi Avati, introduced by the filmmaker and producer Antonio Avati

These screenings will be followed by the Official Opening Ceremony.

Honoring Italian Cinema Icons

The 2025 edition will pay tribute to distinguished figures, including:

  • Isabella Rossellini, who recently received her first-ever Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress (“Conclave”, directed by Edward Berger). A special retrospective of her films will be featured.
  • Sergio Castellitto, honored on February 24 with the LA, Italia – Excellence Award for his acclaimed performance as the German Cardinal in “Conclave”, a film that has earned eight Oscar nominations. He will also attend the Screen Actors Guild Awards on February 23, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, Stanley Tucci, and John Lithgow.
  • Cynthia Sleiter, award-winning set decorator, recognized for her outstanding contributions to the industry.

A special screening of Conclave will take place on February 24 at 6:00 PM, followed by a Q&A with director Edward Berger and Sergio Castellitto and an Awards Ceremony.

Festival Leadership & Sponsors

Chaired by producer Raffaella De Laurentiis and actor Franco Nero, the festival celebrates Italy’s rich cinematic, artistic, and lifestyle legacy while promoting contemporary Italian productions in the United States.

Organized by the Capri in the World Institute, Los Angeles, Italia is held under the auspices of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo, and with the participation of the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, the Italian Cultural Institute, ICE-Italian Trade Agency, ENIT, and Scabec.
