Grammy Nominations: Beyoncé Leads With 11 Nods

Beyoncé has claimed her place at the forefront of the 2025 Grammy nominations, leading with an impressive 11 nods for her album Cowboy Carter. This marks her highest nomination tally in a single year, surpassing the 10 nominations she received in 2009. Notably, her Cowboy Carter album, which was overlooked at the Country Music Awards in September, is now recognized in the prestigious Album of the Year category.

Despite her record-breaking 32 Grammy wins, Queen Bee has never won the most prestigious award. At the Grammy ceremony, which will be held on February 2 in Los Angeles, we’ll see if she wins the biggest prize for the first time. But something at the 2025 edition of the “Oscars of Music” is already hers: with these latest nominations, the author of hits like Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Halo, and Texas Hold ‘em has become the most-nominated artist in Grammy history, boasting 99 career nods. This achievement breaks her tie with her husband Jay-Z, who had previously criticized the Academy for its lack of recognition of Black musicians, preferring white artists like Adele and Harry Styles over his wife.

Beyoncé is not alone in her dominance in all three of the Grammys’ top categories—Record, Song, and Album of the Year. She is one of five powerhouse women competing for the gramophone-shaped trophies that will be awarded for the penultimate year on CBS (from 2027, after 50 years, the broadcast will move to ABC). Former teenage revolutionary Billie Eilish and British singer-songwriter Charli XCX, the meme queen whose “Brat” iconography was featured everywhere this year (including Kamala Harris’s campaign), each received seven nominations, tying with rapper Kendrick Lamar and with the genre-blending pop-to-country chameleon Post Malone, who has appeared on both Beyoncé’s and Taylor Swift’s recent albums. Rising stars Roan and Carpenter have each secured six nominations as well, including a spot in the Best New Artist category. If either wins Best New Artist alongside Record, Song, and Album of the Year, they would replicate Billie Eilish’s historic 2020 sweep.

The real competition, however, is with Taylor Swift, who also received six nominations and is aiming to top off her record-breaking four Album of the Year wins, including last year’s triumph with Midnights.
