Investing in the audiovisual sector,” states Governor Renato Schifani, “means making our island increasingly present on international stages with significant economic and image-related benefits. Therefore, we wanted to bring together the main representatives of the film industry to listen and open a space for discussion on the goals and needs of the sector. This event is a key moment in implementing our strategy to enhance film tourism, which has been experiencing unstoppable growth for years now, with Sicily being among the favored destinations.
Sicily is and ideal film set as the figures provided by the Sicilian Film Commission show: film productions received over 20 million euros from 2021 to 2023, with funding for more than a hundred initiatives spanning films, series, shorts, and documentaries. Notable recent productions include the American series “The White Lotus,” the “Indiana Jones” franchise, as well as “The Lions of Sicily” and “The Art of Joy.”
Among the events open to the public: on Friday 12th at 9 p.m. in Piazza Duomo in Ortigia, there will be a screening of “Divorce Italian Style” in its restored version. On Saturday 13th, the concert “Marginal Notes” by Nicola Piovani, also at 9 p.m. in Piazza Duomo.
