Costiera: Prime Video’s Action-Comedy Series Brings Global Talent to Italy’s Amalfi Coast

Announcing the full cast for the action-packed comedy-drama “Costiera” set against Italy’s breathtaking Amalfi Coast, Prime Video has created a buzz. Emmy-winning director Adam Bernstein (“30 Rock”, “Breaking Bad”) leads the production, with Jesse Williams (“Take Me Out”) taking the lead.

The ensemble cast for this English-language series, co-produced by Amazon Studios and Luca Bernabei’s Lux Vide, features talent from across the globe. Among them are Jordan Alexandra from the UK (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”,”The Winter King”), Alejandra Onieva from Spain (“Alta Mar”), and Maria Chiara Giannetta from Italy (“Blanca”).
Also, Antonio Gerardi, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Sam Haygarth from Britain (“Jojo Rabbit”), and Jean-Hugues Anglade from France (“Sink or Swim”) join the roster.

In “Costiera” presently filming in Italy, Williams embodies the role of Daniel De Luca, an Italian-American ex-Marine working as a problem-solver at one of Positano’s exclusive hotels. Alongside attending to the hotel’s elite clientele, De Luca—also known as DD—is on a mission to locate Alice, one of the owner’s daughters recently kidnapped. Each episode sees him tackling various cases involving the ensemble cast.

Lux Vide CEO Bernabei is the mastermind behind this prestigious series, penned by Elena Bucaccio, Matthew Parkhill, and Francesco Arlanch. Lux, a Fremantle-owned company, is renowned for global hits like “Medici” and the financial thriller “Devils”. Williams, doubling as a producer, underscores the series’ ambition for the international market. In a unique distribution strategy, Fremantle manages global sales for “Costiera” in all regions except Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, where Amazon holds exclusive rights.

The choice of Campania and Amalfi Coast as the backdrop for “Costiera” holds significance beyond the screen. This decision not only adds cultural depth to the series but also promises economic benefits to the region. With its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Campania stands to gain from the global exposure brought by the production. Moreover, the filming of “Costiera” in this enchanting locale is expected to create job opportunities and stimulate local businesses, further cementing the region’s position as a hub for artistic and economic growth.
