The Italian Trade Agency in LA witnesses Inaugural Renaissance Award at AGBO HQ
The Russo Brothers’ Italian American Filmmaker Forum (RBIAFF), in collaboration with the Italian Sons and Daughters of America (ISDA), hosts an annual filmmaker fellowship program.
This initiative provides production grants to emerging talents in the movie industry. These grants are specifically aimed at those who seek to develop and create stories that illuminate aspects of the Italian American experience.
According to AGBO sources, the top 5 applicants receiving the grant will produce a short film based on their submitted concept. A selection committee, comprised of executives at AGBO and leadership at the ISDA, will choose a winning film.
This year marked a special event as the Russo Brothers and their sister, Angela Russo-Otstot, hosted an extraordinary evening at their Office/Studios in Los Angeles. The event was a celebration of Italian American heritage within the entertainment industry, attended by actors, producers, and A-list Hollywood figures. Louis D’Esposito, Co-President of Marvel Studios, was honored as the first recipient of the “Renaissance Award”. This award celebrates outstanding contributions to Italian American heritage and the entertainment industry.
D’Esposito is Co-president of Marvel Studios and EP on all projects released by the studio. He oversees each project from its development stage to distribution. During his tenure he has helped to build Marvel Studios into a theatrical box office powerhouse with 33 films to date that have grossed nearly $30 billion at the worldwide box office. The two films, Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War have been directed by the Russo’s brother and have surpassed two billion at the box office. “We’re greatly privileged to honor our esteemed friend, Louis D’Esposito, for his remarkable contributions. His tireless dedication to preserving and promoting Italian American culture profoundly resonates with us and perfectly aligns with the Filmmaker Forum’s commitment to cultural preservation through storytelling and film,” stated Anthony and Joe Russo.
