Youtube is Planning to Launch a Streaming Video Services Store

YouTube will join Amazon, Roku, and Apple.

YouTube is planning to launch an online store for streaming video services, write Jessica Toonkel and Sarah Krouse in an article published by The Wall Street Journal.

Eighteen months ago, YouTube started working on the new channel store project, and the service could be available soon.

The internet TV channel currently allows subscribers to YouTube TV – its $64.99-a-month online package of cable channels – to add on a subscription to services such as HBO Max. The new marketplace would allow consumers to choose streaming services ‘a la carte’ through the main YouTube app.

YouTube will join Amazon.com, Roku, and Apple, which all have their hubs to sell streaming video services, trying to position themselves as the go-to place for consumers willing to access all their favorite movies and shows.

For streaming video services facing greater competition and slowing growth in the U.S., the YouTube store offers another avenue to get in front of potential customers.
